It is with excitement that Dan Babineau, part-time faculty member, announces the premiere of two films that he has been involved in producing, ‘Little Girl Blue’ and ‘Your One & Only‘. They will be screened on Thursday September 29th, 2016 at 7:30pm, at Champlain College (see below for address and directions).
Little Girl Blue is a 20 minute fiction film written, directed, and produced by Dan Babineau, a film and media teacher at Champlain College and Concordia University’s Communication Studies program. The film was created with the participation of colleagues, students, and graduates, on the crew and in the cast, who donated their time along with many film and medical professionals. It was finished with the aid of the National Film Board of Canada’s Filmmaker Assistance Program, PRIM’s Aide a la Creation, and Professional Development funding from CUPFA. The film tells the story of a young nurse working in the emergency ward on Christmas Eve. She passes a difficult day, but on her way home she experiences a life-defining moment.
Your One & Only is a 30 minute documentary made by NFB editor Alison Burns and on which Dan Babineau collaborated. It follows Alison’s mother Phyllis Burns as she journeys to a remote mountaintop in Wales, to the crash site of a Wellington bomber which struck the mountain in 1944 during a training mission, killing all its young Quebecois crew members including her brother. As his only living relative, Phyllis and her family, along with local Welsh people who have commemorated the site for all the years since the war, participate in a moving ceremony.
